Why we exist

London is one of the world’s most iconic

fashion capitals, but the industry and our

shopping habits are harming our planet.

Londoners buy on average 48 new items of clothing per year and throw away around 44 items - 40% of which end up in the bin where they are typically incinerated, releasing harmful carbon emissions into our atmosphere.

How we shop can make a difference. Reducing new clothing purchases and replacing with pre-loved, rental or shared items while also repairing what is already in our closets can reduce our fashion footprint.

Changing how we think about our clothes will go a long way towards tackling the climate crisis.

Love Not Landfill is working to make this change happen.

What we do

Love Not Landfill is a non-profit campaign run by ReLondon, helping 16–24-year-old Londoners build a more sustainable relationship with fashion and their wardrobes.

We’re on a mission to make circular fashion more accessible and inspiring for young Londoners. Through promoting second-hand shopping, clothes swapping, repair and upcycling, we highlight the environmental, social and financial benefits of keeping clothes in use for longer. We also provide practical opportunities for young Londoners to take action and make more sustainable fashion choices.
